I’ve built quite the collection of cookbooks since we got married when I first realized I had to cook. Soon after, I found I actually enjoyed cooking (thankfully). I’ve been given cookbooks and I’ve “Amazon Primed” them to myself, written by famous chefs (ahem, Ina) and family friends who created the best Southern dishes. My only requirement for buying a new one is that the writer has to intrigue me and the recipes included need to appear doable/fun because well, I’m nowhere near a chef. In comes my latest find: Cravings: Recipes for All the Food You Want to Eat by Chrissy Teigen.
Who is she? Well Chrissy is known for a lot of things – modeling, being a co-host on two TV shows (Lip Sync Battle and FABLife), being hilarious on Instagram/Twitter, and being John Legend’s better half. You’re probably thinking – a supermodel who actually eats? Is she a unicorn? I started following her on Instagram and fell in love with her love of every kind of food (she eats everything from what I can tell) and creating new recipes in her own kitchen. So yes, I was so excited when her first cookbook arrived at my front door that I read it cover to cover.
So does it live up to all the hype? Absolutely. There are ALL kind of yummy recipes – fresh takes on some classics and new dishes you never knew you craved. She introduces each recipe with a short blurb that is both hilarious and revealing so you feel like you’re cooking with your BFF. The recipes are not difficult I’ve had the cookbook two weeks and I’ve made five dishes just to make sure the food tastes as good as it looks. Spoiler alert, it’s better. I’m over here cooking my way through Cravings and my husband is one happy man and I’m one very happy pregnant lady! xo
