As of Saturday, I’m now 5-6 weeks from meeting our little guy and it’s getting real real. We’re in full-blown nesting mode over here and I am convinced my husband and parents are literal saints for everything they’re doing – and all the ways they’re putting up with me and my hormonal moments. Annie is routinely making me melt by helping with all things Baby Ollie and routinely kissing my belly to “give him love.” We’re soaking in every minute of these last few weeks as a family of three (four, if you include Buddy). Here are some of the things I’m feeling at the moment:
Baby’s size: Butternut Squash, somewhere in the 4.5-5 lb. range
I’m feeling: I’m feeling more and more ready with every day that passes and as more to-do’s get marked off my list. My parents have been helping us nest, including designing and surprising us with the finished nursery and let me say, it is perfect. Talk about feeling the love and support!
Food love: All the foods – this baby has made me crave more protein and been a lot less picky about food in general.
Weird craving that has crept in: Raw ramen noodles – yep, it’s super weird.
Currently wearing: Anything with plenty of stretch, mainly maternity tights, a tee and a cardigan.
Pros of November:
- Beautiful fall weather – and the small stint of winter with the SNOW
- Hanging with my favorite people at baby showers thrown for baby Ollie
- The bigger I get, the nicer people are to me – i.e. giving me their shopping cart at Target
Cons of November:
- Not sleeping too great thanks to not being able to get comfortable on either side and a wild man going in my tummy
- Hot flashes – the struggle is real
- Feeling all the feels aka crying at all the holiday commercials
Looking forward to: Thanksgiving this week! I am so looking forward to making my pumpkin pie, eating all the things and soaking in plenty of chill time with my family which of course will include plenty of Christmas movies to officially welcome in the season.
Feeling super thankful for: My midwife, who never ceases to calm my nerves and make me all around just feel good and so excited for what’s to come.
Dreaming about: All sorts of things, but the scariest has been that I dream my water broke and I then wake up in real life convinced it’s happened and I’m in labor.
Favorite scripture at the moment: “I have cared for you since you were born. Yes, I carried you before you were born. I will be your God throughout your lifetime – until your hair if white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you.” – Isaiah 46: 3-4
